Avigilon Alta Open (Formerly OpenPath) Security App

  • How do I install and set up Alta Open for the first time?
    When you are granted access to OYC, you will be sent a welcome email describing how to install and set up the Avigilon Open Alta app on your mobile phone. You will also be sent your credentials for the app in a separate email, which you must be able to open on your mobile phone, so be sure to provide OYC an email address that you can receive on your phone. The app credentials will be tied to your phone, so they can only be used on one device at a time. To install and set up the Open Alta app: Search for and install the Alta Open app in the Google Play Store for Android Phones, or the Apple App Store for Apple iPhones. Open the app and enter your email address, then tap Next. You will be prompted to open your email app. (If you do not have email on your phone, please follow the steps here and then select Use Password Instead.) If you do have email on your phone you will receive an email from Avigilon Alta. Please open the email from the same device where you installed the Avigilon Alta Open app (it will not work otherwise). In the email, tap SET UP PHONE. (If you did not see the email, please see the Avigilon Alta Open setup phone link not working or not received.) After you click the link, the app will set up your user and log you in and the app will guide you through a few setup steps. After setting up, the app will show you the entries you can access.   • I got a new phone - how do I transfer my Alta Open credentials to it?
    Hooray for new technology! Unfortunately, your mobile credential is tied to your old phone, but switching it over to your new device is super easy. What to do when you get a new phone: Delete the Avigilon Alta Open App from your new phone. Re-install the Avigilon Alta Open App. Open the app, enter your email address associated with your Avigilon Alta Open account, and tap Next. You’ll receive a setup email from Avigilon Alta Open; open that email on your phone and tap SET UP PHONE. Make sure the app permissions are set correctly, and you should be good to go!   • What App permissions need to be set in Alta Open on my phone?
    After installing and logging into the Avigilon Alta Open app, you need to enable some permissions before you can use the app. For Apple phones: To unlock entries using the app Enable Bluetooth on your device and allow Avigilon Alta Open to use Bluetooth. Set location permission to authorized Always. Why does the Avigilon Alta Open app need to know my location? You can open the app to unlock the door or open the app to wave/touch at the door. To unlock entries without opening the app Enable Bluetooth on your device and allow Avigilon Alta Open to use Bluetooth. Set location permission to Always. Why does the Avigilon Alta Open app need to know my location? Allow Avigilon Alta Open to use Motion & Fitness Activity. Motion & Fitness Activity will put the app on standby when not in use to preserve battery. When testing unlock capability make sure the phone is NOT inactive. Move it around before you attempt to test Wave to Unlock. Nearby Devices Location Notifications - If you’re having issues with intercom notifications please review below. Android (may differ based on version) Notifications must be enabled Avigilon Alta Open Call Notification must be enabled To check if your app permissions are set correctly, open the app and tap the upper left menu icon, then tap App Permissions. All the permissions listed there should have checkmarks after them.   • The "Wave to Unlock" function has stopped working for my phone - what do I do?
    There are a few reasons why Wave to Unlock might not be working for you, so there are several things to check. Sometimes the solution is as simple as enabling Bluetooth, or toggling it off and back on again. Restarting your phone can also help.
